HBO Max show Peacemaker is a spinoff of the forthcoming Suicide Squad sequel that is directed by James Gunn. The show will be focussing on the origin of the titular character, Peacemaker. The character is played by John Cena.
HBO Max TV show Peacemaker has ordered 8 episodes with the production that slated to start in early 2021. Not very much is known about the details of the plot and the show itself. But Warner Bros. has said that the show is set in the same world as The Suicide Squad. This will also debut in theaters on 6th August 2021. James Gunn will also be serving as a writer and director for the multiple episodes of the series, including the pilot.
Fans of DC Comics are well aware of the backstory of the HBO Max TV show Peacemaker, who is a diplomat committed to peace that he becomes a heavily armed vigilante. The character of the Peacemaker finally becomes deeply immersed in his violence cause that he even starts believing that he can hear the ghosts of those that he has killed, speaking to him inside his helmet.

However, the character of the HBO Max TV Show Peacemaker never correlated with Suicide Squad in the comics, Gunn liked the over-zealous vigilante adequately enough to put him in his forthcoming Suicide Squad film sequel, which of course also stars the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
HBO Max show Peacemaker is the latest property of DC Comics to receive a TV series on HBO Max. In July, Warner Media had announced a spin-off show that would focus on the Gotham City Police Department. The series will be sharing the same universe as The Batman of Matt Reeves, which stars Robert Pattinson as Caped Crusader.
Indeed, it is not surprising that HBO Max is getting a DC-related series. HBO Max is now owned by AT&T that owns Warner Bros. and DC. Various other shows from DC Universe like Swamp Thing, Star Girl, Young Justice, and Titans are also heading towards the service.
