Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2 is going to feature a gender-bend on the world’s greatest detective Sherlock Holmes.
The world’s greatest detective and his equally gifted sister are returning with a big twist. Based on Nancy Springer’s young adult fiction series, Netflix’s Enola Holmes narrates the story of Enola Holmes, the young sister of Sherlock Holmes, as she sets out on a journey to find her missing mother. Her journey takes a thrilling turn as she uncovers a mystery that could affect the entire country. With Stranger Things star, Millie Bobby Brown, serving as the film’s lead and Henry Cavill in the supporting role, Enola Holmes became greatly popular immediately after its release on September 23, 2020.
Within only the debut month, Enola Holmes generated nearly 76 million views and hence became one of the most successful Netflix projects. The critics gave the movie highly positive reviews while giving special praise to Millie Bobby Brown’s performance. Enola Holmes is about to have a comeback and her adventures will continue in the sequel of the movie that is in development and the creator have something special in mind for Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes.
The Plot Twist In Enola Holmes 2
The news about Enola Holmes 2 is dominating the news panel and has light up the fire of excitement among the fans, especially the news involving Henry Cavill’s Sherlock and his role in the movie. It has been greatly speculated that Cavill’s Sherlock will have a more “meatier” role in the upcoming Enola Holmes 2. It is being discussed that Enola Holmes 2 will portray Sherlock Holmes as bisexual and provide a more elaborated view on his sexuality. This is a big gambit on the creator’s part and may not be worth the risk. Created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes is the uncrowned king of fictional detective novels.
The reader fanbase that Sherlock Holmes has is one of the biggest readers fanbases in the world and therefore pulling such a great stunt on the character might upset some of the readers. A similar change was also tried in Netflix’s The Irregulars where Sherlock’s trusted friend and companion, Dr. John Watson was gay. The Irregular’s Dr. Watson went on to develop romantic feelings for his friend which caused complications on the show as it was revealed that Dr. Watson was involved in the death of Alice, Sherlock Holmes’ wife.
This particular plot twist turned out to be a major disaster and ended up receiving several negative reviews as it created a sense of promoting an evil gay theme. Netflix should take note of their prior mistakes and plan their next move a little care as they definitely won’t like one of their greatest projects to face downfall because of an unnecessary plot twist. But whatever happens, Enola Holmes, 2 is sure to pack a thrilling storyline that would be worth watching.
