During a conference this year, WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference), Apple has decided to move away from Intel chips. Apple has announced one of the 3 major CPU transitions for Macs. It is decided by the company to move away from Intel chips towards their own homemade chips. Apple will now be using custom-designed Apple Silicon Processors. This will give Apple more control over the lineup of Macs.
According to Françous Piednoël, Former Intel Principal Engineer, line of Intel of Skylake process is on the fault. The line is to be blamed for this decision bg Apple to part its ways from Intel. There is a video available on Youtube that states that Intel’s line of Skylake has played a role behind Apple’s decision to end its terms with Intel. Piednoël says, the quality of the processors by Intel’s Skylake is “more than a problem, it was abnormally bad.”
This decision was not in the minds of the owners of Apple until the problem with the Intel chip had started. As per the knowledge of Piednoël, Apple was not ready to make the custom made chops. They have faced a lot of problems with Intel’s Skylake processors. This has made them have a plan for their CPU’s.
Mismanagement Is To Be Blamed For
Piednoël said in the video, “when your customer starts finding almost as many bugs as you found yourself, you’re not leading into the right place.” “Basically our buddies at Apple became the number one filer of problems in the architecture,” he added.
It is the bad quality assurance by Skylake range that has forced the company to go away. If there would have problems like these, Apple would have carried with the platform by having no problems.
According to Piednoël, it is the leadership and the mismanagement that is to be blamed. Critical engineers have been leaving the team and this has resulted in poor planning. Poor planning had led to bad quality.
He believes that Intel is a great company. It only needs to avoid such mistakes in future.
