A real fugitive in the UK was arrested and Call of Duty had a big role to play in it.
Call of Duty has a massive fan base. The game only gets more popular as more and more players join in. The game is by far one of the most loved online action games that have been created. Call of Duty is an action-packed game and actual fugitives also seem to enjoy it a lot. In the UK Birmingham officers arrested a fugitive who broke cover and went out to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold war. The game is immensely popular since it was released in November of last year.
The action gaming industry is fun and draws a lot of business for the owners over the years. But they also have many downsides. In recent news a Japanese man was arrested for sending 37 death threats to the game publisher Square Enix. The man Toshiyuki Kan was reported to be furious playing their game Dragon Quest of the Stars. There have been many such instances in the recent times where Square Enix has received a lot of death threats from players.
The incidence in UK was quite the drama. The police officers approached two men because of their suspicious behaviour. They broke the quarantine and went for shopping a video game. This obviously didn’t seem like a valid reason to violate rules. They asked the two men for their details; they gave fake names and one of them attacked the officer. They were put down by the officers in the struggle. It was later discovered that one of the offenders was Clint Butler who had been in hiding after a 17-year prison sentence to him.
Call of Duty in recent times has been in the darker news pictures. Last month Ingrid Bueno a Call of Duty mobile esports player was murdered by a fellow Brazilian player. After this incident, the whole community was in shock and there were heated discussions about such violence. US Navy All-Female Call of Duty Warzone stream ‘Women of Warzone’ was spammed with fire and bomb emojis. The spam was meant as a protest against the recent bombings by the US in the middle east. Later the stream’s text chat was disabled.
Call of Duty has been a huge success all over the world. Sometimes there are some negative effects of the competition and violence among players. But taking it all in sporting spirit is the ideal way. Nonetheless, it speaks a lot about Call of Duty and their popularity that in the lockdown boredom even a fugitive went out to buy the game, and the game in a way helped for his arrest.
