Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) chose Deadshot (Will Smith) over Joker (Jared Leto) in David Ayer’s initial script for 2016’s Suicide Squad. Even though everyone had very high expectations from the film, it didn’t do well in the theatres. Suicide Squad was bombarded with negative reviews from critics as well as fans from the day of its release.
However, both Deadshot and Harley were represented as positive characters in the film and that might have led to confusion in the minds of the fans as the film had a chaotic and illogical tone. This year, Robbie will be seen in another DCEU film Birds of Prey. He will also be seen in The Suicide Squad which is James Gunn’s sequel. Moreover, Smith will be repeating his role as an expert marksman.
Harley Quinn and Joker‘s Infamous Relationship
Harley’s relationship with Joker in the film was not welcomed pleasantly by the fans. Harley and Joker had an infamous and disrespectful relationship in the comics and that transformed into Suicide Squad. Despite them being in an infamous and disrespectful relationship, both ended up being together at the end of the movie as Joker Broke Harley from Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary. Joker’s appearance in the film looked and that made Leto’s presence a bit weird in the film. The film ended with him “getting the girl”.
Ayer posted on his social media “Harley and Deadshot hooked up as a couple.” He didn’t exactly mention what made them bond again but anything can happen. And they might have bonded well on their mission and would have eventually developed feelings for each other.
Had Harley and Joker been together in the film, it wouldn’t have been that a good pair. Harley and Deadshot together made a much adorable pair. Later, Ayer said that “This was changed during reshoots“, that smoothly connects to his previous declaration that the Suicide Squad arc of Harley was “eviscerated” due to workroom impact.
Who plays Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey?
Fortunately, Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) found her happiness in Birds of Prey as she and Joker broke up and that set her free. The Suicide Squad is expected to include the comeback of some other players from the 2016 plan. Unfortunately, Deadshot will not be seen in ‘The Suicide Squad’.
