Stranger Things season 3 broke fan-favourite couple Nancy and Jonathan and now Netflix’s one of the biggest hit has to fix them again in their upcoming season 4.
Stranger Things season 3 aparted Nancy and Jonathan, and now it’s Season 4’s responsibility to fix them again. Strange Things is Netflix’s one of the biggest his, critics, and streamers all over the world loved the series for its unique genre, stellar cast, fast-paced storytelling, and fun’80’s vibes.
But Season 3 of the series somewhere disappointed fans with just one move. Across the first two seasons, two teen characters Jonathan and Nancy were seen together in a classic slow-burn teenage romance, and all the credits for it’s going to actors Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton’s real-life bond. But season 3 had no clue to do with the fan-favorite couple, so the 4th season which is on its way has to fix the couple.
The early part of the series showed Nancy and Jonathan as a nebbish geek from a dysfunctional family and a popular girl who takes a shine to him thanks to their shared (nearly lethal) adventure. The first installment of the series has its problems, but their arc was completely changed when the pair almost hooked up only for Nancy to return to Steve by the season’s close and left viewers to wait for the end of the series to see what happens with the couple. Their teenage romance does justice to the ’80s inspired series. But the series erased all their hard work with chaotic overstuffed season 3.
Season 3 shows Jonathan and Nancy out of school and working hard for a local newspaper. At first, Jonathan was too afraid to help his girlfriend stand up against their bully coworker until they turn into literal monstrous body snatchers, despite the character facing down Demogorgons and government agents and risking his life to save his brother in earlier seasons. Jonathan can’t stand against the bully coworker that gave Nancy a heroic and empowering moment.
Not only that Newspaper office subplot broke the teenage couple but it also left viewers wondering what happened in the second installment of the series. As the series saw Nancy and Jonathan are a great team together from taking on the Hawkins Lab or taking down Demogorgon. They were a perfect team until the newspaper subolot came and that left couple thinking what they are really missing. Jonathan and Nancy should have their struggles, but going forward, anything dividing them should be more dramatic and impactful.
