The television reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon Studios just greenlit the adaptation as a YA TV series, I Know What You Did Last Summer, as revealed by Deadline.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, the reboot series will be similar to the original 1997 film. It will be following the story of a group of teenagers who are threatened and hunted by the killer. They were terrorized one year after they were involved in an accident on the night of graduation. They vowed to keep this as a secret among themselves.
TV Reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer Has No Confirmed Date Until Now
Writer Sara Goodman will compose the TV reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Amazon Studios’ Co-Head of Television and Chief Operating Officer Albert Cheng stated that this reboot is the exact contemporary update for the traditional slasher film. He said, “The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie. Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan-favorite film.”
Neal H. Moritz produced the 1997 film, formulated this reboot proposal for years. He will be serving as an executive producer on the reboot. Erik Feig, who also produced the actual film, will also assist as an executive producer along with Goodman, Shay Hatten, Pavun Shetty, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Aquaman director James Wan.
Jim Gillespie has directed the film that was originated from a 1973 novel having the same title. The novel was written by Lois Duncan. The film starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Ryan Phillippe. After the original film, two more sequels followed, which was released in 1998 and 2006.
Amazon’s adaptation of I Know What You Did Last Summer is to be produced by Neal H. Moritz (Preacher, The Boys) and is written by Sara Goodman (Preacher). Until now, no cast or premiere date has been officially announced.
