Ian Somerhalder Is Over With The Vampire Diaries’ Damon Salvatore. Know Why?

Here’s a piece of good news for the fans of The Vampire Diaries, Ian Somerhalder has expressed his desire to return but not as Damon Salvatore.  

The CW’s one of the most popular teen drama “The Vampire Diaries” has a massive fanbase despite having aired its final episode in the year 2017.  The Vampire drama is a mixture of everything that includes: romance, bromance, friendship, revenge, over the top drama, and of course an incredibly good-looking cast. The series starred Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert, Paul Wesely as Stefan Salvatore, Candice King as Caroline Forbes and Kat Graham as Bonnie Bennett and others.

After entertaining the viewers for eight seasons, it’s lucky for the fans as the series got its own spin-off with The Originals and Legacies. Still, most of the fans wonder whether they will ever get a chance to see their beloved character Damon Salvatore on the screen. But it looks like the actor wants to make a return to Mystic Falls but in an unexpected role. Yes, Ian Somerhalder has better plans!

There’s no denying! Actor Ian has received massive love from the viewers for portraying an amazing character, Damon. Damon’s character is full of colors that TVD fans could never hate the character and thanks to his irresistible charm.

Damon Salvatore—a bloodthirsty vampire who did not think twice before hunting humans and hurting others. Despite having a dark character, the character received immense love that it is tough for the fans to get over Damon. But it seems like actor Ian Somerhalder is over with the character Damon.

Ian Somerhalder will make a return but not as Damon:

Actor Ian Somerhalder wants to make a return to Mystic Falls but not as Damon Salvatore. When it was asked if he could ever see himself returning to the franchise of TVD, the actor responded positively.

He spoke to ET “I actually would love to talk to Jules. I would love to go and direct one of the Legacies episodes”. Yes, you read it right! He would love to play director on The Vampire Diaries’ spin-off Legacies.

Further, Somerhalder continued “we spent eight years on the show and now it’s two years later which we’re still talking about it while we’re working on other things. That’s a decade 30 to 40. That’s a very substantial piece of your life. But I would actually love to go back and direct one. I love what they are doing. The show looks amazing, it’s all of my old team”
