PlayStation players are restricted from transferring their saved data from PlayStation 5 version of games due to a lack of USB memory drive support.
PlayStation 5 players are now figuring out that it is nearly impossible to back up or transfer game data without subscribing to PlayStation Plus. In the last 3 generations of Playstation, all you need was a USB drive, moving the save, and plugging it into another console. It was one of the most important features for those who participate in Tournaments with various consoles at home.
However, it also makes it pretty easy to analyze, alter, and otherwise tear apart saves on a PC, and it became the reason why Sony removed the feature from its latest console.
There another option to save all data, players have to push it to Cloud, and their data with following than like a shadow. But there is also a problem while doing this as Sony’s cloud saving solution costs money in the form of a PlayStation Plus subscription.
While there are plenty of folks who subscribe to this type of service by default thanks to the “free” games, it’s not a guarantee, and the restriction on cloud saves could pose problems for the console in the long run.
PlayStation 5 To Have PlayStation Plus Cloud
According to a test by TweakTown, PlayStation 5 doesn’t offer any other way to save the data other than PlayStation Plus Cloud. This feature only goes with PlayStation 5 and PS5 exclusives as with PlayStation 4 there are no such problems of saving data. In this Console War, there is also another side, Xbox doesn’t deliver free Cloud for players’ entire library but now also delivers features to transfer saved data between generation.
Games on Xbox share the same title but download different versions varying upon the player’s console. Save games also transfer betwplatformsform even on the PC if the player plays anywhere title. As of now, PlayStation 5 gamers will either have to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or keep up more than one save game across any consoles they plan to play on.
