The management company for Eternals actor Don Lee posts a message confirming the Marvel movie’s planned sequel is in the works.
Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals didn’t exactly blow up the box office during its late 2021 run, a sequel may still be in the works, at least based on the management of one of the cast members.
The agency and management team of Don Lee, who played Gilgamesh, released a statement emphasizing the actor’s upcoming work, which intriguingly includes “Eternals 2,” as reported by the Eternals Updates Twitter account. The statement was roughly translated as “Many works, including many movies and dramas set for production next year, are being explored to catch Ma Dong-Seok as the production of the drama ‘Hive’ has grown ambiguous.” The Roundup: No Way Out, the third episode of the Korean crime drama Crime City, is currently being filmed by Lee (born Ma Dong-Seok) and is scheduled for release in 2023.
Eternals 2: Will Marvel Make It?
The statement didn’t give any specifics, but it did mention that Eternals 2 and other international projects starring Lee are now in production. The film industry’s emphasis is reportedly on whether Ma Dong-Seok, who is continuing his hectic days without blinking, would be able to make 2023 his year, according to the statement. The idea of Lee returning for a potential Eternals 2 is, however, seriously jeopardized by the fact that his character passed away in the first movie. However, an “insider” report from the beginning of 2022 said that Gilgamesh would possibly make a comeback in a later MCU undertaking.
This declaration may give some credence to a claim made by Patton Oswalt, who plays Pip the Troll, back in August. In an interview with The Today Show, Oswalt described the mid-credits scene from the film Eternals, which he claimed indicated a sequel was in the works. They’ve said there would be an Eternals sequel, and Chloé Zhao will helm it, he said. Nevertheless, comedian and actor Kumal Nanjiani, who played Kingo in the movie, expressed some skepticism about a sequel, stating he thought Oswalt was duped by a spoof website and that he didn’t know if a second movie was occurring.
Marvel’s Eternals was launched on November 5, 2021, to generally unfavorable reviews. The movie presently has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 47%, making it the MCU film with the lowest rating. On the aggregate website, it has a 77% audience rating, nevertheless. According to over 10,000 verified reviews, the general consensus is that “Eternals still has all the action, humor, and emotion that fans are searching for” despite being a new kind of Marvel film. Regardless of opinions, the movie made a total of $402.1 million worldwide, making it the second-largest opening weekend for a Hollywood production during the COVID-19 epidemic with $162 million in global box office receipts.
