The Loki TV show on Disney+ is generating levels of anticipation that put it far ahead of other Marvel TV shows on the streaming platform.
According to The Direct, tracking shows that Loki is generating 67 percent more interest from audiences three months out from its release than The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at the same point in time. That same date indicates Loki is also beating out WandaVision’s level of anticipation three months from its own release. These statistics make Loki the most-anticipated of the current crop of Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows on Disney+. This category will expand in the years to come with other high-profile programs ranging from Ms. Marvel to Moon Knight to She-Hulk.
A decade prior to starring in his own series, Loki made his Marvel Cinematic Universe with the original Thor movie. Since then, Hiddleston has reprised his role as the fan-favorite character in productions ranging from two Thor sequels to three of the Avengers movies. Though he was killed off in Avengers: Infinity War, a version of the character from an alternate universe was introduced in Avengers: Endgame, allowing this Loki program to exist.
The release and cast
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Sasha Lane, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. The series arrives Friday, June 11 on Disney+.
All the mystery surrounding him apparently hasn’t stopped it from being Marvel’s most anticipated show.
According to TV Time, Loki is currently tracking 67% higher than The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is set to debut later this week. The Tom Hiddleston-led series is still roughly three months out from being released. For comparison, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is tracking only 38% higher than WandaVision a week out from its release.
Hiddleston, too, looks to be in true God of Mischief form in early looks at the series.
His redemption arc from Thor: Ragnarok is no longer in play as Loki is back to who he was directly after the events of the first Avengers. A return to the true God of Mischief is an exciting prospect for fans and for the character’s future in the MCU.
