HTC has come up with the latest headset. The Vive Cosmos has collaborated with HTC, thus comes up with many improvements. It is different from the original Vive.
HTC has planned to sell a new version of Cosmos Elite, that will enable it to work with Vive’s lighthouse trackers.
It will be coming soon in April for $549. The new model will enable the base stations to connect with the elite version of Cosmos. It will come with the faceplate in it. It is a good headset but is expensive.
It is expensive but HTC has been trying since long, for taking steps towards democratizing VR.
The Cosmic Elite feels like the original one, that has come a few years ago. It has the same controller as the original Vive has. Cables and dongles that are used in the Cosmic Elite are very much alike. The new model is identical to the original one. It used three power adapters and external sensors. These external sensors will help in creating a virtual world to move in.
HTC is still using the MicroUSB charging port that it uses generally. It is comfortable to handle but somewhere gives the feel of a 90’s product. The display has higher resolution but the display is not very suitable for gaming purposes. The side door effect also does not satisfy the user.
The modular capability and the blue finishing makes it more noticeable. Two other headsets will be launching later this year. It is assumed that they will be cheaper than the Elite version. The external sensors are more useful and accurate than the inside trackers.
HTC has more plans and features for the Cosmos that are still undisclosed in this Elite version. They are, maybe, saved for the future headsets.
