Dawson’s Creek Reboot: Here’s What You Need To Know
Dawson’s Creek is an American-based Television series released back in 1998 casting James Van Der Beek as Dawson, Katie Holmes as Joey Potter, Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter, and Michelle Williams as Jen. The show was directed by Kevin Williamson till the ending of Season 2, later Paul Stupin took hold of Williamson’s authority. Amidst an interview that was spotlighting the TV show mothers from the nineties, Dawson Creek’s star Mary-Margaret Humes talked about how there’s a chance for the show to get renewed.
Repute of Dawson’s Creek
Dawson’s Creek was originally premiered on The WB in 1998. Its premiere drew 6.8 million viewers, the highest ratings in The WB’s history.’ Beautiful young people in beautiful romantic commotion’ was Dawson’s Creek’s plot, and the series was in it to win it. The show perceived itself from the same fusty teen love story in the ’80s and 90’s to a kind of romance that would become increasingly popular among teen soaps over the coming decades. It moved away from a love story built on the abiding, unquestionable belief that women belonged to men and that was all there was to it toward a love story that could at least gesture at valuing women’s influence and independent significance.
Humes played the role of Gail Leery (Dawson’s mother). All over the show, she keeps giving guidance and teaching to her son meanwhile she also suffers her own marital distress. Unlike other teen shows where kids use profanity, the show focuses on Dawson spending time with his close friends Joey, Pacey, and Jen. Humes talked about how modern shows have pioneering and sophisticated storylines. Unlike shows like Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars where teenagers solve mystery and murder cases, ebb and flow in relationships, Dawson’s Creek focuses on the nostalgic life of the late nineties.
Probably viewers have become monotonous by watching the same genre shows over and over. Joey and Pacey’s love story is the only storyline on Dawson’s Creek that might be called aesthetically pleasing. It’s an exquisitely paced slow burn, one that reveals new depths to its characters. Probably viewers require back the old, simple shows to tackle today’s modernized lifestyle.
