Robert Downey Jr will not be returning back to the MCU. He himself has confirmed that he is not coming back to Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The star was asked about his upcoming projects and plans in the MCU. He was asked while on the SmartLess podcast. To this, he announced he is finished with Iron Man and Tony Man.
While speaking to him about his work and life balance, he was asked by the host Jason Batema, “I’m assuming that the Marvel thing is at a slower speed now… or you’re done with that now?”
Robert Downey Jr replied, “That’s all done.”
Though, this is quite off as he said in January ‘anything could happen’.
Robert Downey Jr Enjoyed His Time In The MCU
In an interview with Extra TV, along with his wife Susan, he was asked if there was an opportunity for a comeback, to which he said, “Yeah, anything could happen. I’m really enjoying-“
His character dies in Avengers: Endgame, he said, “As far as I’m concerned, I hung up my guns and I’m good to let it go. I also think Marvel is on this journey now and they’re trying a bunch of other stuff, and I’m excited for them to see how all that goes. It’s hard to project.”
Fans of Marvel might be aware that Tony Stark is tipped to make a cameo in Black Widow flick.
Deadline reported last year, “Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.”
There are rumors that while he would be back in the new movie, it will be a deleted scene from Captain America: Civil War.
Now, fans will have to wait a bit longer to find the project that Robert Downey Jr is working on. However, we hope to see him soon.
