The recently announced Conjuring 4 could wrap up the tale of demon hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren, according to horror director James Wan.
The fourth main-series movie, according to The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 director James Wan, might wrap up the tale of demon hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren.
In an interview with Collider, Wan talked about The Conjuring 4, expressing the possibility that it will be the last in the Conjuring series. We hold the Conjuring movies in the highest regard, Wan remarked. Therefore, we kind of want to just take our time to make sure we get it right and to make sure the feeling of the Warren stories that we want to tell is accurate before moving into, and possibly winding up, we just want to make sure that it’s the right thing, the right narrative that we’re telling.
In October 2022, The Conjuring 4 was announced. With Wan and Peter Safran returning as producers and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick scheduled to pen the script, New Line Cinema is now developing the fourth entry in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Conjuring franchise. A $20 million budget turned into a $319.5 million profit for The Conjuring, one of the best-selling horror films of all time, after its 2013 release. The Conjuring 2 was released in 2016 after a direct sequel and a series of spinoffs and prequels, including Annabelle and The Nun, was made possible by the popularity of the first movie.
A contemporary horror franchise was started with The Conjuring
The main Conjuring films follow fictionalized versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators who are played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively. The couple is followed as they battle demons and carry out exorcisms in each movie, which is based on a well-known haunting. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which Michael Chaves directed, was the final mainstream film to be released. The Warrens have been represented by Wilson and Farmiga in the first three Conjuring films as well as the 2019 spinoff Annabelle Comes Home. Although their comeback has not been officially confirmed, both performers are anticipated to return for The Conjuring 4.
There are now three different spinoff programs in the franchise, excluding The Conjuring movies. The 2014 film Annabelle inspired a trilogy of follow-ups, including Annabelle: Creation and Annabelle Come Home. The Nun from 2018 and The Curse of La Llorona from 2019 are also part of the Conjuring universe and were both helmed by Chaves. Wan and Safran are both serving as producers on the Nun sequel that is presently being made in France. The Conjuring 4 is yet to have a scheduled release date. Source: Collider
