Extraction 2 is in rounds to get on Netflix soon, probably featuring Chris Hemsworth.
As theatres are shut down, because of the pandemic. This is constantly resulting in delaying of the movies and money-making blockbusters. Thus, viewers are left with only a few options this year. The number of big flicks to watch this year is very less. But one of the bests is Extraction featurimg Chris Hemsworth that has debuted in April this year.
The movie is penned by Joe Russo, i.e. one half of the team (directing) behind the last two movies that are Avengers. It is helmed by Sam Harvave. And the movie follows Tyler Rake played by Chris Hemsworth. He is a mercenary who is hired to escort the son of a kingpin because he has been taken to hostage. Extraction was not the most original but Netflix’s one of the few. Because Netflix has not released many outstanding action films.
The set pieces were expertly choreographed, with highlights including a 12-minute continuous shot where our hero fends off multiple bad guys while jumping from rooftops, driving dangerously down narrow streets and dodging gunfire. In fact, according to Hemsworth, the performance was the most difficult of his career, which is saying something considering he’s been playing Thor for nearly a decade.
The movie was a blow hit on the streaming platform. And a sequel was shortly greenlit. Russo is returning to jot down the script. Now he has given an update on the script.
If It Is A Sequel Of A Prequel
“I started writing the sequel (prequel?) three weeks ago. It’s a great character to write for, with a fantastic performance from Hemsworth. So it makes my job easier. I think the mission is to up the scale on this one, both emotionally and physically,” said Joe Russo.
Russo is a bit confused when he says prequel or sequel. Though the movie ended on an ambiguous note, with the uncertainty of the hero being dead or alive. It seems he is still alive. But if it is a prequel or a sequel would decide that. Because there is a lot more to know about Rake’s past.
Till then we will have to wait for the details.
