Gal Gadot confirmed in an interview in her native Israel, that during the Justice League reshoots, Joss Whedon threatened her career.
For the first time, Gal Gadot has finally confirmed the earlier reports that director Joss Whedon tried to threaten her career through a conflict that the two stars had during the already troubled reshoots of the Justice League film. This was after Whedon stepped as a replacement of Zack Snyder, after Snyder’s departure from the film due to the untimely passing of his daughter.
While in an interview with the Israeli outlet N12, “He kind of threatened my career and said if I did something, he would make my career miserable and I just took care of it on the spot.”
The Hollywood Reporter reported further ob the confrontation that took place between the Wonder Woman star and Whedon. These differences apparently first started when during the reshoots of Justice League, Gal Gadot felt that the character of Wonder Woman was acting too aggressive during the reshoots which was unlike her character. The reporter who covered this story further claimed, “The biggest clash, sources say, came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career, and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. While Fisher declines to discuss any of what transpired with Gadot, a witness on the production who later spoke to investigators says that after one clash, ‘Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.’”
Gal Gadot also has talked to Variety saying that she answered questions only as a part of the investigation of Whedon’sbehavior. On being asked for comment by Rolling Stone a representative for Whedon did not immediately return.
Whedon’s behaviour has been under scrutiny.
Whedon’sbehaviour has come under intense scrutiny throughout his career over the last few years. As late as last July, Ray Fisher, another Justice League star, complained about Joss Whedon’s on-set behavior toward the cast and crew as “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” Even this February Charisma Carpenter — someone who starred in two of Whedon’s early TV hits, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel — also accused Whedon of gross, abusive behaviour, these claims were also backed up by two Buffy actors Amber Benson and Michelle.
