DC has finally pushed the romance of Batman and Catwoman forward. Because Tom King has not pulled the trigger, we were not sure about “will they? Won’t they?” The aspect of them getting together.
This has come in the aspect of Selina Kyle getting expectant for Bruce Wayne. Yet, as interesting as this connection has been, Batman and the Outsiders #12 provides that the couple has vastly reasonable romantic dynamic between them i.e. Black Lightning and Katana.
“Bat-Cat” Romance
Batman and Catwoman’s chemistry seems more style than any substance. That is very dramatic. The relationship is about ‘self’. Bruce is wanting Selina to fill the void in his life and to build a family. Whereas Selina wants Bruce to take care of her while she is on the right path. They are different as Bruce has a fear of happiness and Selina loves the thrills that life brings.
Realistic Relationship Between Jefferson and Katana
But in the case of Jefferson Pierce and Katana, they have fallen for each other just like that. They have not opted to pursue anything. Things have happened on their own. They have found kind spirits in each other. And so they take care of each other without wanting each other to do so.but they don’t want themselves to get them away from the mission of facilitating the coming generation so they avoid each other.
It is a different form of romance from that if Bruce and Selina’s. There is no strategy or agenda of ‘self’ in their romance. And also they don’t wish to distract them from serving people. They choose to live around discomfort and casualty and surrender a fortune so that the children can have decent and moral educators.
Katana wants to be alone so she does not regret anything. Whereas Jefferson does not wish to get heartbroken for any reason. Also, he does not want to face the problems of her last marriage.
We, as the audience, sympathise with them but this is what makes them more human.
