Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar and Batman actor Paul Dano, joins Netflix’s sci-fi drama Spaceman starring Carey Mulligan and Adam Sandler.
This sci-fi drama focuses on a troubled astronaut, Sandler, who on his solo mission to collect space dust from the perimeter of the galaxy, finds an improbable source of support. Emmy-winning director, Johan Renck (who won an Emmy for Chernobyl), will be directing Colby Day’s adaptation of the novel Spaceman of Bohemia written by Jaroslav Kalfař.
Deadline has reported that the“TBBT” star and The Riddler of Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman” are all set for Spaceman. This will be another step for Paul Dano in his return to on-screen acting since he directed Mulligan, his fellow Spaceman cast member, in his directorial debut “Wildlife” back in 2018. In that very year, Kunal Nayyar has announced as the third-highest-paid TV actor all thanks to his role as Raj Koothrappali on the iconic CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which ended in 2019. Spaceman is being produced by Free Association, the production company which is being run by Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin, and Peter Kiernan.
The synopsis of the absurdist sci-fi film describes Sandler’s astronaut turning “to the only voice who can help him put his life back together,” adding that
“It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time lurking in the shadows of his ship.”In the novel, this voice comes from a giant arachnid, which means if Dano were to play this voice, his shrill and slippery pitch would give the required amount of trustworthiness with a hint of deceit. As far as Nayyar is concerned, he can also be considered to play “the voice”, given the fact that he lent his mellifluous tones to the Troll franchise. It is believed that after having worked in the confines of a network sitcom for nearly two decades, this opportunity would help him explore his acting abilities and stretch his acting chops.
Though which roles these two talented actors are going to play in Spaceman is still under wraps, we hope that both the actors bring a lot to the table and thrill the sci-fi fans with their performances in Spaceman.
