Antman & The Wasp Quantumania

How Loki Connects To Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania?

Disney+ Loki series might set up the foundations for the story of another MCU project i.e. Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania

Phase 4 of the MCU has begun and after WandaVision and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier rocked us to our cores, it’s time for the God of mischief to take the center stage. Next up in the line of Marvel’s TV series is Loki, premiering on June 9 after being preponed from June 11. The latest teaser clips released of the Loki series have been very informative and have given rise to a lot of fan theories, one of which is “do Loki and Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania share a crucial connection?” Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, had previously stated that the Disney+ Marvel series are included in the MCU’s storyline, so it is entirely possible that it might be true and Loki may serve as a prologue for Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania. Let’s find out how

Loki's Power

All We Learned From Loki Teaser Clips

We know that the time remanent Loki from New York 2012 is in the custody of the TVA or the Time Variance Authority. In the elevator scene from the teaser clip, Loki and agent Mobius discussed the basics of time and agent Mobius explains that time flows differently in the TVA. In the comics, the TVA is located in “The Null Time Zone”, a place that exists beyond time and is used by the TVA as their base of operations. We don’t know where the MCU’s version of the TVA exists yet, but there are only so many ways it can go. Additionally, the MCU has already hinted about a place that exists free of the concepts of time- the Quantum Realm and this is the first link that connects Loki to Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania.

Avengers: Endgame mostly revolved around time and tampering with it through time travel and its consequences. Professor Hulk gave a confusing explanation about how time works but later in the movie, during the Avengers’ trip to 2012 New York, the Ancient One explained about time travel and the disruptions caused by it as branches rising from a single timeline stream. The Loki series is pretty much based on this timeline logic, where Loki and agent Mobius try to fix the Avengers’ mess. Another scene from the teaser clip reveals how the TVA believes in a sacred timeline and works to protect it, something that is mocked by Loki. Loki’s comment also reveals that the TVA was founded by three “space lizards” and that is where the second connection begins.

The Concrete Links Explained

As per Marvel Studio’s official announcements, we know that the main villain for Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania will be “Kang The Conquerer”, who will be played by Jonathan Majors. If we look back at Antman & The Wasp’s quantum realm scene where Hank was rescuing Janet, we got a look at a bubble city situated in the Quantum Realm which had a high resemblance to the “Chronopolis” from the comics. The Chronopolis is the city-state of Kang the conqueror and is composed of architectural trophies from the timelines he has conquered. Peyton Reed, the director of Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania, confirmed that the quantum realm city will play a major role in the movie.

Apart from Chonopolis, the quantum realm city also resembles “Tok”, a world from Marvel comics that was known for its green lizard-like beings. It could be possible that the 3 founders of the TVA (snake lizard-like beings according to Loki’s comment) were the last three surviving members of Tok, who established the TVA after their world was attacked and captured/destroyed by a villain who uses the time to his own benefit i.e. Kang the conqueror.

Antman & The Wasp Quantumania And Loki Connection Explained

Peyton Reed also confirmed that Antman & The Wasp 3 starts filming this week and they were shooting with The Volume, the 360-degree LED backdrop technology which is used to shoot scenes that are harder to film physically, which suggests that we may get see more detailed scenes of the quantum city. If the Loki series explores the foundation of the TVA, it might introduce Kang and set up his arrival in the upcoming Antman & The Wasp 3. This is all just a theory, it may or may not be totally correct but it would surely be amazing to see some of this actually happening on the show.
