Lucifer fans are not getting a chance to see Lucifer season 5 of the same after it has landed on our screens.
The finale of the series is yet to be filmed because of the delays that are caused due to the pandemic. Many were wondering about part 2 of Lucifer season 5.
Tom Ellis, the show’s lead has revealed that he is expecting the new installment of Lucifer season 5 to land by the New Year.
While speaking to Pilot TV podcast, the actor said, “The second eight episodes, I’m not sure when they’re going to drop because we’ve still got the finale.
“We were about halfway through it. So we go back, we start with that, and then we go straight into season six.”
“So hopefully that’ll be ready to go, I would imagine, sort of Christmas time or early next year,” he continued.
For those who have not seen part one of Lucifer, it is a fantasy drama that focuses on Lucifer Morningstar or the Devil. He sacked Hell and moved to LA to run a nightclub. He does so before becoming a consultant for the LAPD.
Lucifer Season 5 was considered as the show’s final installment. But after the fans of the show clamored for another outing, it was considered again. And it will be back with the 6th installment as well.
The Show Shifted From Fox To Netflix
The show, earlier, originally aired on Fox. But it was canceled after 3 seasons. It was the time Netflix picked up the project from Fox’s hands. It was great news to the loyal fans of Lucifer.
After the news of Netflix taking over the project from Fox broke, Ildy Modeovick and Joe Henderson thanked the streaming site.
They said, “We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms.”
“Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”
Some fans thought Lucifer season 5 will be the last of Ellis as a titular character. One site has even hinted that he will be replaced by Ian Somerhalder in the 6th season.
Like many theories, this is just a rumor. Ellis will be here till the end.
While speaking to The Guardian, Ellis himself has admitted that he had come to terms with the fifth season as his last, until he was called for another one as well.
He said, “I’d planned to spend this season in my own grieving process. And then, right towards the end, literally as we’d already devised how we would end our show, we had a call from Netflix saying: ‘Would you like to go another season?’.”
The actor concluded, “I know we’re the Lazarus of TV shows, but this is definitely going to be the final season.”
