Lucifer tops Netflix rankings. Netflix’s Lucifer has topped the latest back of weekly rankings of Nielsen. However, Lucifer had not started as a streaming show. In fact, it premiered as a mid-season program on Fox in 2016. Then Fox canceled the series after 3 seasons. Fans campaigned for the same to renew Lucifer with another life. Netflix then planned to pick the show for two more seasons. But this has also changed this year, Lucifer was renewed for 6th season now. This 6th season would be the final one, confirmed in June. Now fans are left with only 16 episodes, and the 5th one will be split into two parts. And now certainly Lucifer tops the Netflix rankings.
Netflix does not release the viewing figures for any of its programs, except for certain shows like The Old Guard that came this summer. Netflix believes in keeping their show’s performance hush-hush. However, Nielsen has started tracking the weekly figures for various streaming sites. And thus, this is giving the public a real glance at the show’s and film’s performances. It puts The Umbrella Academy on top earlier. And no doubt, Lucifer tops the Netflix.
Lucifer Tops Netflix Till 17 To 23 August
As per Deadline, Lucifer tops Netflix ratings and was the top show for the week of August 17-23. It notched 1.591 billion minutes of streaming, which put it ahead of number 2 show that is The Legend of Korra (1.248 billion). Lucifer’s accomplishment is particularly notable because part 1 of season 5 came on August 21.
Nielsen now traces shows from Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and Hulu, but the prime 10 this time around was completely made up of Netflix programs. Lucifer and The Legend of Korra were pursued by The Umbrella Academy, The Office, Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, Project Power, Criminal Minds, NCIS, and Teenage Bounty Hunters. While these numbers do confirm that Netflix has its reasonable share of original hits, they prove that a huge part of the streamer’s subscriber base inclines to watch older, licensed fare. And one of the shows is Lucifer as Lucifer tops Netflix rankings.
Lucifer tops Netflix and its popularity shows Netflix gave rise to the right call in saving it, and that a sixth season was possibly a smart trick too. Right now, fans are eagerly expecting part 2 of Lucifer season 5, which will premiere sometime next year.
