Mayim Bialik who is known for her role as Amy Farah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory talks about how she got into acting. Scroll down to know!
Mayim Bialik aka Amy is one of the most loved characters from The Big Bang Theory. Did you know Mayim Bialik who played the love interest of quirky socially-awkward Sheldon Cooper just got the job for health insurance? Yes, you read it right! Acting was definitely not a part of Mayim Bialik’s plan.
For three years Kaley Cuoco who played Penny on the show was the only female main cast. It was only at the end of season 3 that Mayim’s character was introduced. Slowly more girls came into the lives of these quirky science nerds as the show continued. Mayim was cast to be the female version of Sheldon Cooper and later as we saw, they became the perfect fit. While talking about her role she said.
“I left the industry for 12 years and I got a doctorate in neuroscience. I wanted to experience a life where you’re valued for what’s in between your ears and not just for what you can provide for other people. I was literally running out of health insurance and thought that if I could get a few small parts it would help.”
Way before Mayim appeared on the show she was referenced by her role in Blossom. In episode 13 of “TBBT” season 1 ‘The Bat Jar Conjecture’ after Sheldon is kicked out for being insufferable while the boys participate in the Physics Bowl, Raj suggested they should ‘get the actress who played TV’s blossom, she has a Ph.D. in neuroscience or something. Other than this Mayim also had a romantic scene on Blossom with Johnny Galecki who was just a random guy, who also later happened to be her co-star who played Leonard on the show.
Mayim Bialik has no plans of walking away from acting even after The Big Bang Theory got over. She is starring in Jim Parsons produced Call me Kat and also made an appearance in the spinoff show Young Sheldon where it was revealed that she and Sheldon had a son named Leonard Cooper.
