The Big Bang Theory was a popular American television sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. The show first premiered on September 24, 2007, and became quite successful and in the end, the show had aired for 12 seasons and had a total of 279 episodes. Believe us when we say that the show was totally a blessing for nerds because it had the perfect depiction of how a group of nerds and geeks live their life and all the aspects of their lives.
The story revolved around the lives of Dr. Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons, and Leonard Hofstadter, played by Johnny Galecki, who work at the same place and also share an apartment. Also, important members of the story were their two friends and co-workers, Howard Wolowitz, played by Simon Helberg, and Raj Koothrappali, played by Kunal Nayyar. The lives of these four friends are turned upside down when a new neighbor Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco, arrives to live next door to Sheldon and Leonard. The show delivered such a perfect portrayal of the lives of nerds with a truckload of comedy that everyone loved it. The show had steady ratings and was going perfectly fine so why did it end?
Why The Big Bang Theory Ended?
A fall in ratings or controversy is usually the reason for a sudden end of the show but that was not the case for The Big Bang Theory. When the news for the show’s end surfaced, it was revealed that the sole reason for its unexpected finale was the lead actor’s decision to leave the show. According to reports, Jim Parsons who played the role of Dr. Sheldon Cooper felt like there was no development left to be done on the show and there was nothing left to be done and therefore he wanted to leave the show.
Since he was the spark of the show, the creators thought it would be best to end the show. Mayim Bialik, who appeared on the show as Sheldon’s girlfriend, was in an interview with US Weekly where she claimed that there were more reasons to the show’s end. “Jim and I had a lot of nice moments together on set and I think one of the things that worked so well for us as actor partners, and maybe as producing partners too, is that we’re not overly sentimental as humans, which I think is helpful. The way that I described the show ending was there are a lot of factors that the public doesn’t get to know about, about what goes into the decisions behind why a show doesn’t continue.
I think, as someone who was grateful to work alongside Jim and eager to see the rest of what all of our lives held for us, I think there was a general feeling like it was time for us to move into something different” she said. Kaley Cuoco had also recently revealed that there were talks about the thirteenth installment in the series and suddenly one day the makers announced the show’s end. Well, whatever may be the real reasons for the show’s unexpected end, it was truly heartbreaking news and fans want nothing more than the show’s return once again.
