After the huge success and popularity of Enola Holmes Netflix has finally confirmed its sequel. Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix film and made it official on Instagram saying, “The sequel is afoot”. The sequel is sure to bring back Millie Bobby Brown as the young sister of Sherlock Holmes, as well as Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. Millie Bobby Brown is also said to produce the sequel too.
Who Is Enola?
Enola Holmes is a female eccentric mystery film based on author Nancy Springer’s six-part book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries. Enola Holmes is the young sister of renowned detective Sherlock Holmes (Cavill). The story is about Enola, a teenage sister of the famous Sherlock Holmes, who on her 16th birthday finds herself alone and learns that her mother has left her without even saying goodbye and without any reasonable explanation. This turn of events brings back Mycroft and Sherlock, her two older brothers, home from their adventures.
The free-spirited Enola is forced by Mycroft to go to finishing school and become a proper lady which she doesn’t like and escapes to London to find her mother but ends up on a thrilling adventure. On her adventure, she meets Viscount Tewkesbury, a young lord, who escapes from his family dreading a life that is not ruled by his family but a life to live on his terms. She ends up pairing with the lord as they attempt to solve a mystery that threatens the entire country. The movie ends with Enola and her mother Eudoria finally meet after a long time. This 2020 hit movie had a viewership estimated at 76 million households in the first 28 days of its release.
The film was originally intended to be a theatrical release by Warner Bros. Pictures, in April 2020, Netflix picked up distribution rights of the film due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill, its cast included actors such as Helena Bonham Carter (Eudoria Holmes, the matriarch of the Holmes family), Sam Claflin (Mycroft Holmes), and others. But there is no endorsement of who will be back for the sequel.
Harry Bradbeer will be back to direct Enola Holmes 2 and so will the writer Jack Thorne. Legendary Pictures, Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes will produce along with Millie Bobby Brown and Paige Brown and the production could begin by the end of the year. The details of the sequel are not revealed yet but surely the adventures of Enola Holmes, the prodigy young detective, will fascinate us all again.
