The Story MODOK: Head Games #4

Up until now in the series, we witnessed MODOK struggling glimpses of a past that he never lived and the memories of a family he never had. He remembers living in a suburban family (Note that this the family that will be seen in the MODOK’s Hulu series) and cannot make anything of these memories. In a quest to find answers for his condition, he comes face to face with his father who was originally the leader of A.I.M. he was also the man who founded the organisation and turned MODOK into the monster he his.

While explaining his origin to MODOK, he reveals that he intends to finish him off. He also reveals that he went into hiding because of the change in MODOK’s primary directive from “Computing” to

“Killing”. His so-called father had been leading him into a trap so that his autonomous will could finally be wiped off, leaving behind a shell of high-tech weapons that can be used according to his will. Upon being overwhelmed by his super adaptions, MODOK finds himself dragged into a corner with no way out. However, his cell phone comes to his rescue. Everyone would wonder why a cybernetic organism carries a cell phone along with him. This is something that MODOK’s fellow agents had also been wondering for quite some time.

As it turns out, his phone was his most powerful weapon that he unleashes upon the A.I.M. agents. It is later revealed that the cover case of his cell phone had been forged using Uru metal, the very same material used to construct Mjolnir- the mighty weapon of the mighty god Thor. During the Asgardian War of the Realms, MODOK got his hands on some Uru metal and used it to make a cell phone case. The case moved according to his will just like Thor’s Mjolnir. This ability of the cell phone case helped MODOK to kill the A.I.M. agents along with his father.

The Ending

Leave it to MODOK to use something as harmless as a phone case to kill people, but as ridiculous and hilarious as it seems, it is also brilliant because no one would suspect something like a cell phone to be used as a weapon. As the issue reached its end, MODOK retook the control of A.I.M. and used his father’s adaptoid to make a family for himself, just like in his memories. The comic has ended but now the readers are left wondering whether the thing to beat Thor’s Mjolnir be a mere cell phone case?
