Amazing Spiderman is on its way to reveal the identity of mysterious Villian Kindred. But there are some hints that indicate that he is already unmasked to Doctor Strange in 2016.
While Spiderman is not getting the chance to fight some cosmic battle, he is still a street hero that means he is still busy stopping robotic band robbers and fighting Power Mad CEO wrapped up in Goblin suit. Unfortunately, Nick Spencer’s run on Amazing Spider-Man has brought him face-to-face with Mysterious Villian Kindred, a bizarre and incredibly powerful enemy who wants to wipe out entire Spiderman’s existence.
Depiction of Mysterious Villian Kindred
Spencer and co-creator Ryan Ottley depict Mysterious Villian Kindred as a rotting, purple-cloaked corpse with one or more giant centipedes draped around his body. It has been already revealed that Kindred is a former character of Marvel Comics who died and was sent to hell, top it that he is familiar to both Norman Osborn and Peter Parker. But the true identity of Mysteries villain Kindred is still very fascinating. As earlier in 2016 a villain with the same kind of description has encountered Doctor Strange.
In a limited series of X-Statix Presents: Dead Girl by Peter Milligan, Mike Allred, and Nick Dragotta, Doctor Strange contacts mutant hero Dead Girl to help him with some deadly problem. A dead villain now known as the Pitiful One has journeyed to the furthest depths of hell to obtain the Creme de Profundis, a disgusting concoction which – when smeared on a dead soul – allows it to return to the physical plane for a short time.
While the Pitiful One expresses more of general self-pity than the loathing of any particular hero, he does confirm that he was a supervillain in life, saying, “I had another name. A name synonymous with defeat and pain and mockery.” He also chooses the then-deceased Spider-Man villains Kraven and Mysterio as his chief henchmen and mentions being beaten up by Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and a rare Daredevil/Thor team-up. The heroes ultimately defeat the Pitiful One, and Dead Girl punches through him to reveal he is rotten and full of insects.
So – Mysterious Villian Kindred rose from hell, prone to resurrecting old Spider-Man villains, infested with insects, holding a grudge, and sporting a purple-centric color scheme. Are there any other connections? Well, Marvel’s solicits for Amazing Spider-Man #52.LR specify that Spider-Man will have to turn to Doctor Strange for help, and that Doctor Strange will recruit a (seemingly female) hero whose identity is being kept under wraps. While Spidey’s no stranger to asking Doctor Strange for help with supernatural troubles, this certainly makes sense in the context of Strange and Dead Girl’s prior experience with the Pitiful One.
