Netflix Announced The Making Of TV Series Bases On Resident Evil

Netflix has now officially announced that it is making a TV series that will be based on the Resident Evil franchise of Capcom. There were rumors about the same, but now it is confirmed by Netflix itself.

In the latest Twitter post, Netflix has written that “when the Wesker kids move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover might just be the end of everything”. This obviously does not sound like the story that we have seen or experienced.

The post continues and states, “Resident Evil, a new live-action series based on Capcom’s legendary survival horror franchise, is coming to Netflix.” There is an attached photo that probably shows the front page of the script of episode one of the show. It will be titled “Welcome to New Raccoon City”.

The episode is directed by Bronwen Hughes and is written by Andrew Dabb. Netflix also states that Dabb will be helming the whole series. The series would be 8 episodes. Also, Hughes will be directing the second episode as well

The official short synopsis of the show

The synopsis states, “In the first timeline, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world.”

“Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters – people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past – about her sister, her father, and herself – continue to haunt her.”

The show will be covering two different timelines. It will feature Wesker other than Albert. Albert was initially introduced to the players as a member of STARS.

The premise seems pretty promising. Dabb has expressed his excitement about working on Resident Evil for Netflix. He said, “Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before.”

We hope, we will be hearing more about the same. The related news according to Resident Evil is, Resi 8 is in production at Capcom. The remake of Resident Evil 3 has come to number 4 on the top 10 best games of 2020 so far.
