Netflix is planning to have its own action-packed movies.
Netflix has its plans to play Hollywood, when it comes to action-packed movies, at their own game. The streaming giant last year released Michael Bay’s $150 million 6 Underground. It is recently closing the big deal with Russo brothers that will feature the Avengers: Endgame directors. They will be tackling $200 million thrillers The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in lead roles.
Though, the biggest hit in the genre of action costs less than half as compared to the aforementioned projects. Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction ($65 million) has become Netflix’s most-watched movie ever. The movie has racked up 100 million views in 4 weeks.
Despite the low costs that yielded massive success, the company is still going for their next action epic. The company has roped the most popular and highest-paid actor to help them achieve more of it.
Red Notice Eventually Shut Down
Red Notice has decided to reteam Dwayne Johnson with Central Intelligence and Skyscraper director Rawson Marshall Thurber. It is for a globe-trotting thriller that features a 48-year-old cast as an agent of Interpol to track down the most notorious art thief. The thief is played by Gal Gadot. Ryan Reynolds will be on board as the greatest conman on the planet.
The star power and high concept pitch that we don’t see is enough to generate excitement. Especially with Reynolds and Johnson making it clear that they had a great time while putting it together.
Unfortunately, Red Notice was shut down in March due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Though the shooting is anticipated to resume as early as possible, next month.
There is no date that is officially set for the release. But Netflix is sure that Red Notice will be ready to go well before 2021 ends. Tom Cruise can be in line for a cameo as well. It would definitely be a surprise if the movie didn’t knock Extraction. For now, let’s wait for further details
