It just came now but many people are already wanting the second series of Netflix show Ratched. They might get lucky.
Netflix show Ratched stars Sarah Paulson and it tells the origin story of a nurse whose name is Mildred Ratched. Mildred Ratched is a character that is created in Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It was later immortalized by a terrifying Louise Fletcher in the 1975 film of the exact name, which starred Jack Nicholson.
The first season of the Netflix show Ratched has 8 episodes and it is set in 1947. It is a good sign though, given that the movie was set in the 1950s.
The official synopsis of the Netflix show Ratched reads, “From Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Ratched is a suspenseful drama series that tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched.”
“In 1947, Mildred arrived in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind.”
“On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but the wheels are always turning and as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, Mildred’s stylish exterior belies growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.”
It Seems The Second Season Is On Cards For The Netflix Show Ratched
However, there is no official announcement of the Netflix show Ratched about a second season. But it now looks as if the second season is on cards.
Now there will be the time for wrapping up the loose ends after the first season of Netflix show Ratched.
Paulson’s character, at the juncture that the Netflix show Ratched 1st season is set, has yet to entirely become the cold and planned figure of the film, and the American Horror Story actor asserts that her personality is not a complete villain.
She told Oprah Mag, “I think she does some morally reprehensible things. But we’re all capable of doing questionable things if you’re really honest with yourself if there’s something you really want. If you believe your life literally depended on it.”
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Paulson said, “I identified very deeply with her loneliness. I think ultimately at the end of the day, that is sort of what drives Mildred – a pursuit of survival and of finding some sense of home.”
“Even though the methods that she chooses to achieve that internal security are somewhat questionable, I would argue that she’s doing them with a potentially selfish need, but survival needs nevertheless.”
“Sort of an animal need that blinds her to the inappropriateness of some of her actions.”
The first season of Netflix show Ratched is available on Netflix now.
