Recently Netflix shared its third-quarter viewership numbers, stating Elona Holmes and Cobra Kai both won over 50M screens in their first month of streaming.
Netflix recently released its third-quarter financials, noting that Elona Holmes and Cobra Kai hold the largest number of viewership on the platform this fall.
A report by Deadline says that Within its first 28 days Elona Holmes was able to bring in 76 million households on the platform. This same report also states that Cobra Kai’s season 1 earned over 50 million views during its first month.
Elona Holmes was released on Netflix on 23 September starring Millie Bobby Brown as the lead character of Sherlock Holmes’s little sister, who tackle some unpredictable adventures to find her missing mother. The film also had an amazingly talented cast including Sam Claflin, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, Susan Wokoma, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter, and Fleabag’s director Harry Bradbeer directed this art piece.
Cobra Kai’s season 1 and 2 saw their premiere on Netflix on August 28. Originally the series was released on Youtube but took a rebirth on the streaming platform. This series was a spin-off of Jackie Chan’s Karate Kid starring William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo, Peyton List, and Martin Kove. Netflix has already announced it’s season 3 to be premiered on January 8, 2021.
Other Series and Films than Elona Holmes and Cobra Kai
Other than these two there were many other series and films that gained a huge number of viewership including Jamie Foxx’s Project Power that brought in 75 million viewers in Q3, and Charlize Theron’s The Old Guard, that brought in over 78 million viewers.
While both the film’s gained more viewership than Elona Holmes, it’s worth pointing out that Elona Holmes was Bobby’s first feature film whereas Project Power and The Old Gaurd both starred veteran actors who’ve received Oscars in their past. It’s also worth noting that The Old Guard debuted on July 10, and Project Power debuted on Aug. 14, making Enola Holmes’ numbers more impressive due to how quickly the feature film entered into the 70 million viewers — and more — spot on the streaming service.
As of January, Netflix Ceo Reed Hastings confirmed that according to the new policy now the viewership is determined by a viewer watching the content at least for two minutes, not like the old policy where the viewer has to watch 70% of content to get a view.
