The Mexican mystery thriller series, Who Killed Sara? Recently premiered its season 2 giving fans a thrilling experience of the murder mystery. But will there be a season 3? Fans are already asking for season three as the second season ended on nail-biting suspense, while the lead character, Alex, continues his desperate search to find the murderer of his sister.

The crime drama created by Jose Ignacia Valenzuela and directed by David Ruiz and Bernardo de la Roza stars Manolo Cardona as Álex Guzmán, a man convicted for the murder of his sister Sara, a crime that he did not commit. Upon its release, Who Killed Sara? claimed the number one spot for the most-streamed show for several weeks in the United States and has remained in the top ten since then. On April 21, 2021, Netflix reported that the show has been seen by 55 million households during its first 28 days making it the most popular foreign show. Season 2 premiered on 19 May 2021, two months after the release of the first one. 

Who Killed Sara? season 3 release date

The first season premiered on Netflix on March 24, 2021, with 10 episodes. Just after two months, the second season premiered on May 19, 2021. Since then, the show hasn’t been confirmed to come back for a third season yet. As season 2 ended with thrilling suspense it is confirmed that there will be season three. The series being Netflix’s most-watched foreign language program, it surely won’t be long before more episodes will be ordered.  

However, some entertainment outlets are already predicting that a third season is likely underway in 2022, despite the cast remained tight-lipped. When asked about season three for Entertainment Weekly, Manola Cardona (the actor who plays Alex in the show) said, “Hopefully, yes, but I don’t know.”

The cast of Who Killed Sara? 

The cast includes main leads Manola Cardono (as Alex Guzman), Ximena Lamadrid (as Sara Guzman) and others including Alwjandro Nones (as Rodoldo Lazcano, Casar and Mariana’s eldest son), Carolina Miranda (as Elisa Lazcano, César and Mariana youngest child), Eugenio Siller (as José María “Chema” Lazcano, César and Mariana’s middle child), Fátima Molina (as Clara, José María’s close friend), Litzy (as Marifer, Sara’s best friend and Alex former lover) and many more.

Who Killed Sara? The Plot

The fiction involves Álex Guzmán, hellbent on finding out who killed his sister Sara after spending 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit and on getting revenge on the Lazcano family. Who killed Sara? follows a group of interconnected characters closely related to the murder of Sara and the long road that leads to her eventual demise at the end of season one. Much of season 2 explores the events before Sara’s death revealing many other characters of the show having dark and mysterious pasts.

The audience also discovers more about how the family relates to Sara and her death, but as season 2 ends fans come to a revelation. Sara’s best friend, Marifer, confesses to cutting the parachute’s harness. The scene also reveals Rodolfo’s friend Nicandro speaking to the doctor and saying, “Nobody can know that it was really us.”

The final scene ended up leaving us with more questions, although it does seem Nicandro has a lot more to do with Sara’s death than anyone.

Even though Netflix hasn’t yet confirmed season three, fans are still hopeful.
