Classic co-op shooter Left 4 Dead 2 of Valve will be free to play this weekend after its long-awaited “Last Stand” update. Left 4 Dead 2 is a sequel of 2009. It was released one year after its predecessor which was also one of the best co-op games of the generation.
Up to 4 players could travel through the series of connected levels. They had to collect weapons and accessories while driving away hundreds of ‘infected’ zombie-like victims. The game had helped usher in a zombie zeitgeist.
Like other Valve projects, the third installment of the series was canceled, Valve shifted away from the development of games so as to focus more on the hardware parts and the platform steam of games.
Fans took issues into their own hands by developing their own update and releasing a trailer earlier this month after an official sign-off from Valve. The latest trailer indicated more details. The release date is set for September 24th.
Among many developments, improvements, Left 4 Dead 2 will be free-to-play on Steam for 3 days. It is combined with an 80 % off sale. And thus, the price is set at just $1.99. It involves a new extended campaign, 26 new survival maps, and four new Scavenge Areas along with newly upgraded animations, PVP enhancements, and bug fixes.
The Last Stand, Final Update Of Left 4 Dead 2
The Last Stand will be the final update of Left 4 Dead 2. Also, Left 4 Dead 3 is not happening any time soon. But fans are eager for the new co-op zombie shooting experience. But unfortunately, they would have to wait.
Turtle Rock Studios, one of the creators behind the franchise, recently disclosed concept art for a spiritual heir entitled Back 4 Blood. No release date has been announced yet, but it necessarily appears more likely to occur than a new Left 4 Dead 3 game.
“The Last Stand” is a fascinating project year in the making for a game that conserved its popularity despite its lack of new authorized content over the years. Those who haven’t battled the horde in years will also be persuaded to see what the company has added.
