Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War customers will have to pay for its next-gen upgrade. The game has made quite a few headlines as of now that too before the official announcement.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, The official announcement was done by puzzling ARG that disclosed the game’s content and settings. A brief teaser was there at the end of the challenge. However, the full revelation will be done on August 26th.
The next-gen consoles arrival that is still to happen is a puzzling thing for many developers. Fans of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War do not want the game to arrive only on the older consoles. Therefore, a lot of new games that will be launched in the coming months will target a release on both gen-consoles. This change is tricky in different ways including the marketing aspect. Many games are launching themselves with free upgrades. It lets people buy new games on PS4 or Xbox One switch to PS5 and Xbox Series X after buying one. However, few games including Control are not providing free upgrades to all the players.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will follow the footsteps of “Control”
It seems like Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will have terms like that of Control. A recent look into the games file of Call of Duty Modern Warfare showed the pre-order information for the forthcoming title. A user named BKTOOR shared this pre-order information on Twitter. Three distinct versions of the game would be available for pre-order. It includes the standard, the ultimate, and the “Cross-Gen Bundle” edition. It suggests that those players who will buy the game before the next-gen happens will not be able to play the newer one unless they pay for the upgrade.
Unfortunately, this is not what Call of Duty fans would have wanted. So, the idea of paying out more for the next-gen upgrade looks like a cheap attempt to fill one’s pockets and give the brand “Activision”. Also, it is when other titles are providing it for free. It’s uncertain as to how these online multiplayer between the two different generations will handle. Maybe the players from the older generation will not be allowed to access the next generation just because they don’t want to pay any extra money. However, this is all leaked news. So, the possibility of it being a piece of fake news is highly likely.
The change between the console generations is never clear and it is always with some rumors. So, one shouldn’t believe these rumors/leaks wholeheartedly. Meanwhile, there is no official information as to how would the pre-order versions for Call of Duty game would look like.
