Chris Hemsworth will not be using the hammer after Thor: Love and Thunder but still there is No plan of retirement for Thor. Also, he mentioned that he is not done with the MCU yet. Chris Hemsworth originated the role of Thor in 2011 with the first Thor film and kept on playing the God of Thunder in 2 standalone sequels. His presence was included in 4 Avengers movies as well. Again, he will be reprising the role in Thor: Love and Thunder. It will be directed by Taika Waititi.
This film will also be bringing Natalie Portman back as Jane Foster. Waititi has confirmed that she will take on the mantle of Thor. She will do so in a similar way she does in the comics. Hemsworth will transfer the mantle to her but he has confirmed even after this film there is no plan of retirement for Thor.
In addition to Chris Hemsworth having No plans of retirement for Thor, Portman brandishing Mjolnir in Thor: Love and Thunder, Waititi furthermore named the film “very romantic.” After many uncertainties and delays, Thor: Love and Thunder are ready to begin shooting, with Portman reaching Australia to start filming once her mandatory quarantine ends. The movie is using virtual sets, initiated on The Mandalorian, and will star Christian Bale as a yet-to-be-named villain.
Hemsworth Confirms That There Is No Plan of Retirement for Thor
While speaking to a Polish magazine Elle Man, Hemsworth has confirmed that he expects to continue the role after Thor: Love and Thunder. He verified that there are no plans for retirement for Thor. He jokes that Thor is 1500 years old and he is too young to retire. He also hopes that he will not be saying goodbye to the MCU so soon.
“Are you crazy ?! I’m not going into retirement. Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1500 years old! This is definitely not the film where I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.” And this is how he made sure to reveal that there is no plan of retirement for Thor.
There is still discussion over if Thor will appear in the film because there is confirmation that there is no plan of retirement for Thor. And just when in the MCU timeline the 4th movie takes place. The majority of the Avengers of MCU has retired after Avengers: Endgame. There are chances that Thor: Love and Thunder will time jump that will ignore fat Thor and return back to his normal.
However, it simply sounds as Thor endures the events of Thor: Love and Thunder. Whether he is still Thor, is up for discussion. If the film follows the comics he will evolve as Odinson. The numerous chances are exciting, particularly since so many new characters are set to get an introduction in phase 4 of the MCU.
