Marvel has released an official trailer of Marvel’s 616 and a poster for the forthcoming documentary series Marvel’s 616. It will explore the far-reaching influence of the company beyond the MCU’s supremacy of Hollywood.
The trailer of Marvel’s 616 starts with the Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B Cebulski quoting the late Stan Lee. He believed “the Marvel universe is the world outside your window and that the people can find characters they could see themselves in.” It then brings out a number of Marvel creators whose work is similar to Marvel, including Spider-Man writer Dan Slott, who jokingly bombasts that “I killed Spider-Man,” and Ms. Marvel co-creator Sana Amanat, who clarifies how “People really believed women weren’t reading comics that inspired us to do more.” Equal emphasis is given to the rise of Marvel cosplay, which one orator interprets as “the visible expression of one’s fandom.”
The trailer of Marvel’s 616 Received More Spotlight
Out of the eight-episode lineup up, three received more spotlight during the trailer of Marvel’s 616. The section spotlights conversations between artists and Paul Scheer, who directs the 4rth episode “Lost and Found”.
Another examines the “Marvel Spotlight Program, a collection of stage plays written for high school” utilizing Gen-Z superheroes like Squirrel Girl and Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel in its stories. That episode will be directed by Community’s Alison Brie. Finally, the 1978 Toei-Marvel Japanese modification of Spider-Man, interpreted as “totally different from the original Spider-Man”, will be the emphasis of the series’ first episode, titled “Japanese Spider-Man” that is directed by David Gelb (Jiro Dreams of Sushi).
Other directors for Marvel’s 616 are Andre Rossi, Sara Ramos, and Gillian Jacobs.
Each episode of the series will be analyzing a niche area of Marvel and the impact of the same on pop culture.
One of the interviewees puts it near the climax of the trailer, “superheroes connect us.”
Marvel’s 616 will be premiering this fall on Disney Plus.
