Ozark is all set to return to Netflix for a 4th and finale season. Here is what we know so far.
Netflix has confirmed that Ozark will come back for a 4th and final season. Ozark Season 4 will be split up into two halves, with each half having 7 episodes and thus the entire season having 14 episodes in total. Jason Bateman while talking about Ozark Season 4 has said, “A super-sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes.” Ozark has consistently been one of the top-rated shows on Netflix. The popularity of this crime drama series escalated immensely during 2020 when Season 3 came out in March 2020 and it became one of the most-watched titles with a viewership of around 30 million.
Ozark, created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams, first came out in 2017 and made a place among the best in Netflix. It has since been nominated for 32 Emmy awards.
Release Date of Ozark Season 4
Since the season gets split into two halves, it is assumed that both the parts will be released months apart from each other. It has been a trend with Ozark to leave a gap of 19 months between each season.
Wesley Hogan, the location manager of Ozark, in his discussion with KFTV, has said that the Ozark team will go through an extremely busy filming routine. He added, “The first block of filming will take place over 38 days, 30 of which will be in 40 different locations.” The crew began the production for the 4th season in November 2020. Thus we are putting our money on the first half of Season 4 to release by the end of 2021 and the second part will most likely release towards the end of 2022.
Cast member : Who is returning? Are there any new additions?
The cast members who will be making a return are Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde, Sofia Hublitz as Charlotte Byrde, Skylar Gaertner as Jonah Byrde, Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore, Lisa Emery as Darlene Snell, Charlie Tahan as Wyatt Langmore, Felix Solis as Omar Navarro, Carson Holmes as Three Langmore and Jessica Frances Dukes as Special Agent Maya Miller. Since Ben Davis’ character dies, we are unsure if Tom Pelphrey will be returning, even if he does he will mostly be seen in flashback scenes.
Now for the new faces, in November 2020, Deadline provided a list of new cast members, who will be joining Ozark Season 4. This include― Alfonso Herrera, Adam Rothenberg, CC Castillo, Katrina Lenk, Felix Solid, Damian Young, Bruno Bichir.
What we expect from Ozark Season 4?
Chris Mundy, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly, has said that finale season will be explosive, to say the least and consequences await for the big players, Marty and Wendy in particular.
On being asked about what Cartel boss Navarro meant when he said the famous line, “today is a beginning”, Mundy replied, “Marty kind of said it in the speech that he gives to try and get Wendy out of bed, which is that we have to burrow all the way into the centre of this thing.” He added, “To us, it’s that. It’s, you’re a vital part of this enterprise now and you’re completely on his radar, to the point where he’s [mixing] his or someone else’s blood with yours, you’re sharing in that. And so, for better or worse, you’re completely in this game, and now it’s yours to see if you have another play left in you.”
Few theories have also emerged from last season, with some fans claiming that Ben is still alive owing to the fact that we never actually get confirmation that it is his body that is being buried in Season 3.
One of the biggest questions that arise is whether the Byrdes will be successful in escaping the Navarro Cartel. Every passing season, the family has sunk deeper and deeper in the hands of the Cartel. Possibilities are, they will be hunted down by the FBI if they even try to run away. With all the theories and speculations and the excitement of the fans and crew alike, we are hoping that Ozark Season 4 will not disappoint.
