The 5th season of the series began airing on 7th April 2021 and is almost on the verge of final episodes. The series continued the story of ‘Teresa Mendoza’ aka ‘The Queen of South’ as she and her drug empire face a lot of troubles and some new challenges. After 10 conspicuous episodes, the season will conclude on 9th June. Now the biggest question moving forward that the fans are stuck on – Will it be back? Is Queen Of The South Season 6 happening? Have they renewed the contract or canceled it?
Queen Of The South Season 6: The Most Awaited Questions
The series isn’t about to return for another season. That’s mostly because the series is concluding in the final episodes of season 5. The 5th season was announced as soon as the series reached the finale episode of season 4. However, in March 2021, the makers revealed that season 5 is the final one and ‘Teresa Mendoza’ will not be returning for another season.
Speaking to ‘Deadline’ about the same, the makers ‘Ben Lobato, David Friendly and Dailyn Rodriquez’ said
“We can’t wait to share the explosive final season with our fans and of course we couldn’t make the show without the talented and tireless ALICE BRAGA who brought our queen to life”.
The final episode of Queen of the South titled “Bulletproof/A Prueba de Balas” released on 9th June 2021 where Teresa ends up getting shot by a sniper (something we got a glimpse of in the 1st episode of the season). There are some peculiar theories about the ending of the series –
- Maybe Teresa is actually dead, then it definitely explains why the makers would end the show as the show can’t continue without its ‘front and center character.
OR
- She isn’t really dead and just faked her death, then it would be fascinating to see where she goes next.
Although if she wishes to leave behind her life as a drug empress, hiding away might be the perfect resort.
