Ratched is Netflix’s biggest hit. Netflix has revealed that their biggest hit is none other than Ratched. It premiered on Netflix on 18th September with 8 episodes.
The show stars Sarah Paulson as the titular character, it follows Nurse Ratched before the incidents of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the movie and play in which the character appeared originally. Now we have come to know that Ratched is Netflix’s biggest hit.
Ratched is a part of Ryan Murphy’s lucrative deal with Netflix. The contract has seen him giving rise to several shows and movies to Netflix, with various still in the works.
While his enormous hit, American Horror Story, stays on Hulu, Ratched saw Murphy bringing that similar gothic aesthetic to Netflix as Ratched is Netflix’s biggest hit.
Ratched Is Netflix’s Biggest Hit., Revealed Via A Tweet
In a tweet by Netflix, it disclosed that Ratched’s first season is the massive hit of the year. The streamer reports that the show has gained 48 million viewers around for its first season. The tweet by Netflix even claims that it is the highest-rated season of any Netflix original.
This is good news for Murphy who has signed a $300 million, five years deal with Netflix. Ratched is Netflix’s biggest hit. Hollywood blew the streamer in May and went on to be selected for ten Emmys nominations. More of Murphy’s creations are scheduled to hit the streamer or already have this year, involving his remake of The Boys in the Band. The Politician broadcasted its second season on Netflix this year. With Netflix’s statement that Ratched is the highest-rated series of the year, that means Ratched also beat out successes of Cheer, Tiger King, and Murphy’s own Hollywood.
The numbers make sense. Because Ratched is identical to Murphy’s enormous hit, American Horror Story, it is not startling that the series captivated so many viewers. However, traditional television viewership is now declining over the years, making numbers like that surprising for the series as Ratched is Netflix’s biggest hit.
