Rey is joined by Jedi Force ghosts during her fight against Palpatine in a fan edit of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The Rise of Skywalker was the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. The film’s climax was Rey facing off against Palpatine. This all happened with the aid of a Jedi who had come before her.
It is ironic that the Skywalker saga started and ended with Palpatine. Though Jedi masters like Yoda had sensed that Palpatine was a Sith in prequels. They still rose to power. One of his tremendous deeds of evil was convincing Anakin Skywalker to turn into the shady side. Palpatine’s ability still had repercussions even after the supposed demise in Return of the Jedi. As Rey found out her horror in The Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine was not behind the First Order. But he was also her grandfather. Their ultimate showdown has an incredible moment where Rey listens to the voices of the Jedi past. With the aid of Anakin to Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker, Rey finds the courage to rise and eventually defeat Palpatine.
Fan Edit Creates The Union
A Star Wars fan named Jon H intensified the effect of Rey’s, “And I am all the Jedi,” setting.
Rey is standing off against Palpatine and his Force lightning, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Force ghosts of Yoda, Luke Skywalker. Anakin Skywalker is standing behind her, giving her courage. It is an edit that gives an emotional wallop and no doubt it improves the scene.
One thing that could have given rise to this edit even nicely is the inclusion of Ahsoka Tano. He has evolved to be a fan-favourite personality after her image in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka’s voice could be listened to among other Jedis in the ultimate cut. But of course, none of these Force ghosts really occurred to Rey. Co-writer of Rise of Skywalker Chris Terrio noted that they only comprised the Force Ghosts of Leia and Luke at the climax of the film. It is because the Skywalker siblings were the two to have developed a relationship with Rey.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had a ton to achieve in one film. It would’ve been difficult to gratify all Star Wars fans after 8 movies and years of expectations for the final chapter. Although the real scene of Rey listening to the Jedi’s voices was a considerable tribute.
