Victor Fresco, the creator of Zombie Comedy-drama, Santa Clarita Diet, said that he would love to create another season that would ensure to give closure to its fans after one of the most popular series was canceled last year by Netflix.
In a recent interview with LaDbible, Victor Fresco was asked if he would love to complete the series and give closure to fans about the Hammond Family Journey.
He said, “That’s something I think we all would want to do if everyone was available. Emotionally, everyone on the show would love to do some kind of closure.”
“We thought it would be fun to do a season with Joel and Sheila in the same boat – what that would look like. I feel like this would be better for us and better for our fans too.”
Santa Clarita Diet is about the story of two married estate agents, Sheila and Joel Hammond. Their lives were all dark as Sheila dies and further awakes the undead because of the craving for human flesh.
Earlier the show has 3 successful seasons of Santa Clarita Diet already. But Netflix shocked its fans when it surprisingly canceled the show and Fresco confessed that he is sorry for the most loyal fans of the show.
He said, “There were online petitions. Hundreds of thousands of people signed. I felt badly because your job as a writer is to get people invested in your show emotionally. We did that and then the rug was pulled from under them. It was a hard thing to process.”
He stated further, “We had Abby and Eric’s relationship which was turning into something interesting at the end of the series. To see Abby now as a hunter of the undead since both her parents are now undead.”
Ending Of Santa Clarita Diet Season 3
The ending of Santa Clarita Diet season 3 was a huge cliffhanger. Sheila told Joel to save her husband’s life. But when she was awakened, the screen turned black.
He explained things and said, “Joel could have a different attitude [to Sheila], we would want him to be a little bit different in how he approaches things. It will be interesting to see him with that unleashed and what he turns into. So not just who he kills and how he kills but what kind of person he becomes.”
Fresco clarified how the effects squad indicated key awareness to detail in giving rise to the ‘body parts’ look realistic.
He said, “They used gel molds for organs; that can be a kidney or a liver. And then they use a gummy bear material that had to stretch out like tendons.”
“They also crushed beet paste that looked like it could be flesh. Different things depending on what she was eating at the time.”
All three seasons of Santa Clarita Diet are available on Netflix.
