Anthony Russo, director of Avengers: Endgame, states that a Secret Wars film will be the grandest MCU film ever. The interrelated story came up between Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. Joe Russo and Anthony directed both the movies. Whereas it was written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher. It has covered every single important Marvel Character.
The unparalleled team-up began with all parts of MCU being a part of an intertwisted story in the Infinity War. It all ended with Thanos’ act of wiping off most of the heroes. Therefore Avengers: Endgame had such a small cast. They all went on to breakdown Thanos and his allies after collecting the Infinity Stones. It was definitely the biggest movie ever, given the amazing box office performance.
What Russo Brothers had to say on Secret Wars
In an interview with BroBible, the Russo brothers talked about the potential of them returning to the MCU. They even shared information regarding their earlier shown interests in addressing a Secret Wars movie. The Russo Brothers said that they are always ready for the challenges that come their way.
Below is what the Russo Brothers said in the interview:
Joe: You know, I read that when I was 10 or 11, and it was the scale of getting all of the heroes together. It was one of the first major books to do that — that was really event-storytelling to me at its finest. And what happens when you put all of those personalities together. I also like the idea of villains having to team up with heroes. Anth and I like complicated relationships between heroes and villains, we like villains who believe they’re heroes in their own stories, so it’s all sort of built into this notion of Secret Wars. To execute something on the scale of the Infinity War was directly related to the dream of Secret Wars, which is even larger in scale.
Anthony: It would be the biggest movie you could possibly imagine, so that’s what really excites us about the story — the ambition of it is even bigger than the ambition of the Infinity Saga.
X-Men and Fantastic Four together might be in the MCU’s Next
Secret Wars had two storylines in the Marvel Comics, one in 1984 and the other one in 2015. In the 1984 issue, which was the original one, Beyonder brought heroes and villains to the Battleworld. Whereas in the latter segment destruction of the universe was captured. Apart from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers, Marvel Studios might include X-Men and the Fantastic Four in the story. This combination would make such a movie bigger than any other Marvel movie, bigger than even Avengers: Endgame.
