WandaVision Episode 8 took her on a journey through her past. The episode also gave a pleasing tribute to Stan Lee.
MCU’s very first small screen show continues to amuse fans, showcasing more and more awesome comic references. While the story progresses further, it is very pleasing to know that Marvel still remembers the Legend who is responsible for its existence. WandaVision episode 8 surpassed the previous episodes in terms of thrill and fun all while also offering a subtle Easter egg that paid tribute to Stan Lee. World War II veteran, Stan Lee was no less of a hero at every front of his life. Though he got his start fixing telephone poles, he worked his way up to eventually serve as the leading creative artist at Marvel and he helped to usher in the Golden Age of Comic Books.
Stan Lee worked alongside other artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko and created amazing characters like Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, Hulk, The X- Men, Iron Man, Thor, Silver Surfer, and the list go on a long way. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was the start of superhero fandom for millions and inside each of those brilliant works, there was a small cameo, a little role for the big man responsible for them.
Stan Lee’s Backstory
Stan Lee was an exemplary man, a great example for the Veteran community, for leading an amazing life after serving in the army. Along with that, for the new generation of comic book artists too, Stan Lee was a man to look up to. He created many of the world’s now beloved favorite superheroes with flawed and relatable humanity.
Stan decided to join the army after the attack on Pearl Harbor and was appointed as a telephone pole lineman. After feeling like he didn’t belong in the army, he joined the training film division and worked as a writer for films and comics. Then with the launch of the MCU, Stan Lee started to appear for small but amusing cameos and it quickly became a trend.
It became as much a staple of the shared continuity as the quippy dialogue and thrilling action. Sadly, it all ended with the passing of this legend on 12 November 2018. Stan Lee’s last cameo was in Avengers: Endgame, which is quite fitting as the movie itself was a closing chapter of the infinity saga. But as it turns out, the MCU is still paying tribute to the legend.
WandaVision Episode 8
WandaVision episode 8 was top-rated in terms of thrill. From exploring the backstory of Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, and going deeper into Wanda’s past in order to reveal the source of her immeasurable power. While the biggest mystery on the show: “How Westview came to be?” was answered, prior to when the action started, Wanda was driving in a car, and on the license plate of the car, the word “Excelsior” was noticed which served as a signature catchphrase of Stan Lee.
The plate was from New York which was the birthplace of Stan. Another similar reference was featured in WandaVision episode 7 when a montage of images that displayed Wanda’s names was shown and above one was a set of numbers: 122822 which was a clear reference to Stan Lee’s birth date of December 28, 1922. It is very heartwarming to know how even after he is gone, the MCU is still trying to include him in ongoing projects.
