Isn’t it weird how mere accidents can end up being the best things that ever happened to us.
Stranger things is one of the crown jewels of Netflix. Ever since the first season of Stranger Things was released on Netflix in summer 2016, it became a sensational successful series. Stranger Things’ fandom grew even bigger last year during the whole world was on lockdown and people were trapped inside their homes because of the ongoing pandemic. With monsters from other dimensions and evil government organizations in play, Stranger Things mainly focuses on thriller stories.
For the veteran fans who have been watching Stranger Things since the start, it’s not an unfamiliar stance that fun and jokes are not the show’s strong suite. Although every now and then, the show tries to mix in comical reliefs between the intense horror the fright far overweighs the laughter. What’s interesting is that the funniest scene that we have ever gotten on the Stranger Things was something that happened by accident. Yes, you read it right! Let’s find out how?
Stranger Things’ Murray’s Funniest Moments
The first season of Stranger Things was not too big on fun but that changed with the arrival of Stranger Things season 2. Making his debut on the show through the second season was Murray Bauman, played by the one and only Brett Gelman, the paranoid myth buster and conspiracy theorist. Gelman’s character brought about tons of comical fun on the show and he was a part of most of the funny moments that we witness ever since his debut. Murray came into the story when Nancy and Jonathan made efforts to get justice for Barbara in order to give closure to her parents.
Romantic tension aroused between the two during their stay at Murray’s place and they finally hooked up. The next morning when all of them were having breakfast, Murray makes fun of their childish relationship by asking “how was the pull- out” and then after a pause clarifies that he meant the pull-out sofa bed.
After everything is settled and the couple takes a moment of relief, Murray misses his bites that fall on the floor, which was never meant to happen. Gelman understood the opportunity and improvised with a flirtatious “oops”. Watching the script going haywire and Gelman’s improvisation, Charlie Heaton or Jonathan starts to go on with the changes but Natalia Dyer (Nancy) can be seen trying to hold back a laugh.
This accidental mistake impressed everyone and even made it to the final cut of the show. Quoting Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda, “There Are No Accidents”. Maybe this was meant to happen so that the fans can finally have one of the most hilarious scenes of Stranger Things, although that also wasn’t enough to lighten up the tension from Will being possessed by the monster from the Upside Down, but it was certainly one of the memorable moments of the show. Let’s hope that we get to see more of Murray’s fun in the upcoming season 4 of Stranger Things.
