Superman, The Man of Steel isn’t the one up for losing a fight and receiving such embarrassing beat downs. He has been defeated by Doomsday and Darkseid. But he was able to hold some ground. However, in Issue #464 of The Adventures of Superman, the hero was losing a pretty embarrassing fight. It was written by Dan Jurgens and penciled by Art Thibert.
What Happened? Spoiler Alert*
At the beginning of the comic, Lobo was drunk and was trying to find the way to the Fortress of Solitude. He wanted to take over the last son of Krypton. Then, Clark Kent is seen as a Managing Editor of the Daily Planet. He paid no heed to the advances of Lois Lane. He suddenly experiences a headache. Instantly he knows about the intrusion in the Fortress. He changes into his costume and flies off to the Antarctic to see the intruders.
Superman that is the Man of Steel tries to stop the three of them from intruding but they are resistant. Lobo kicks Supes across his face and this opens a fight between Lobo and Superman. Superman punches him but surprisingly it turns out that Lobo has an upper hand in the fight. He throws Supes on the wall and draws blood out of him.
Superman gets up and drives Lobo into the holographic room. He barely escapes Lobo and he is soon on Supes top. He is again hit against the wall which reveals a safe containing Kryptonite. Supes soon indulge in a battle to save himself from the radiation. Lobo mocks at Superman for wearing his battle armor and opens Kryptonian fires on him. Later, Supes is seen lying under the pile of battle armor.
Lobo and his mates celebrate their victory. However, Supes knows that he will not be able to fight against Lobo. He uses the capability of the holographic room to project a dead Superman. Lobo and his cronies rejoice and leave the Fortress.
It is unusual that Superman was not able to fight this one. It must be pretty shameful for Kal-El. Although it was interesting to see him fight with his mind and not his force.
