MCU’S fans have been examining every aspect of the past 20+ movies, all because of plenty of time in our hands due to the coronavirus pandemic. While analyzing and examining the movies, many disappointing things have come to the surface. Going back to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, where Thanos’ plan to swipe away half of the population in the universe. The plot moved all of us during these two movies. However, now when fans look back, they wonder if it made any sense at all.
Thanos is not the regular villain as he is not at all driven by power. His only driving force is the desire to save the Universe. Titan, Thanos’ home planet was demolished due to the overpopulation and excessive consumption of its natural resources. Even Thanos once thought of wiping away half of the Titan’s population so as to save the world. However, his idea got rejected and instead of destroying it half, the planet was destroyed fully.
Thanos alone pledged to save the Planet
When Thanos saw his planet dying in front of him. He desired to save the remaining universe from the previous mistakes. But this he didn’t ask for anybody’s approval. He started doing everything on his own. He searched for the six Infinity Gauntlets that by keeping on his gauntlet allowed wiped off half the universe. So, he thought it would ultimately help him save the universe.
With a snap of his fingers, Thanos succeeded. He got hold of all six Infinity Stones. In the end, the left-over population had twice the amount of available resources that it had prior to the destruction.
Would that be of any help? Fans recently discussed regarding Thanos’ plans in Avengers: Endgame on Twitter
“So thanos’s plan was to kill half the population in the universe to allow them to start a new life with double the resources they would have had? But was this just a temporary solution? In X years the populations would reproduce and everyone would be back to square one. How would he have handled this? Snap again? Kill the people who weren’t snapped the first time? Change his plan entirely?”
Many fans felt the same thing. As the solution was just a temporary one. Because the population might rose back to what it was prior to destruction. Also, Thanos even destroyed the Infinity Stones after using them. This means he would never be able to use the snap again to control the population if it rose again to the level it was before.
One fan stated: “I think the real issue was destroying the infinity stones, my head canon was that he uses the stones again every X years he needs to.. but then he destroyed them.”
Others believed that it’s true that Thanos wanted good for the universe. However, he might have some hidden interest as well like gaining all the power. One user posted: “The [directors] did agree that his plan was flawed; it was more about showing his messianic complex and that his way was the right way.”
