The DC Heroes That Black Adam Would Die to Save

In Dark Crisis #7, Black Adam, battling Deathstroke outside the Hall of Justice, says which DC superheroes he would sacrifice his life for.

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 features Black Adam, despite his terrible past, saying he would sacrifice his life for Nightwing/Dick Grayson and Jon Kent/Teen Superman’s Titans team.

Black Adam fights alongside heroes from the whole DC Universe against Deathstroke/Slade Wilson and his army outside the Hall of Justice in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7. Black Adam shares his extraordinary abilities with the Justice League, the Teen Titans, and other superheroes during the fight before he and Slade continue to punch each other until a winner emerges.

During their altercation, Slade makes fun of Black Adam by saying he is astonished by his allegiance to the Teen Titans.”You know as well as I do these kids are not worth our time,” Slade says. “And now you would fight alongside them? Protect them?” An angered, bruised but still unbroken Black Adam responds, “I would die for them.”

Although Black Adam has long been Shazam’s antagonist, Billy Batson, the character has recently changed his ways and joined the Justice League. The only survivor of Pariah’s assault in Justice League #75, which launched Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, was Black Adam.

In Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #1, Dick and Jon started assembling a new group of superheroes to defend the planet. At first, Black Adam was adamantly opposed to them. He finally came to the conclusion that they were all he had, and he sought to make them killers. However, when they refused to do as he instructed, he lost patience with the group and left to work with the Legion of Doom. In Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #5, Black Adam returned to Dick and Jon’s Teen Titans and joined the battle outside the Hall of Justice after the Legion of Doom was attacked by Deathstroke and infected with the Great Darkness.
