Not going too literal with this, the flash movie just added Barry’s mother to the cast while his father had to depart.
The DCEU has not exactly been at its best since the start. While the movies they produced were amazing, they could not always meet the expectations that the fans had, considering how great the works of DC comics are, in games, comics, and animated movies. The foundation of DCEU was laid by Man of Steel in 2013, however, the time gap between the successive movie “Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice” released in 2016 was 3 years. This massive time gap is what made the fans lose their expectations of the studio. While other projects were also in development, they got delayed repeatedly, for instance, the Flash movie.
In October 2014, Warner Bros. announced that The Flash movie would be released in 2018 as the sixth installment of the DC Extended Universe. Unfortunately, after gaining and losing a whole lot of directors, the production of the movie got delayed over and over again. Currently, the finalized creative team for the Flash movie are Andy Muschietti as director and Christina Hodson as a writer. Along with the first announcement of the film, it was announced that Ezra Miller would be cast as The Flash who has already made his debut in the DCEU in “BvS: Dawn Of Justice movie”.
The other cast related to the movie were Kiersey Clemons and Billy Crudup. Billy Crudup made his debut as Barry Allen’s (The Flash) father, Henry Allen in Justice League (2017), while Kiersey Clemons took up the role of Barry’s love interest, Iris West, in Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League which was released on March 18 this year. However, the final cast for the Flash movie has undergone some recent changes, some are great while others are heartbreaking.
The Cast For The Flash (2022)
So far, the cast of the movie is very intriguing. Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons would be reprising their roles as Barry Allen and Iris West respectively. Also, Ben Affleck would be returning for his role of Billionaire Vigilante, Bruce Wayne- The Batman. The most amazing cast member of the movie is Michael Keaton. The movie is teased to be revolving around the Flashpoint story arc, meaning we would definitely be witnessing time travel and that’s where Michael Keaton comes in. Keaton, who previously played the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 1989 film, “Batman”, is returning to take up his old role, playing an older version of Batman. It could be the future version of the current Batman or a Batman of a different dimension/timeline.
Every person who has taken up the role of Batman has always nailed it, whether we talk about Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, or the golden age heroes, Michael Keaton or Adam West, even the yet to be Batman, Robert Pattinson has totally rocked the role as seen in the trailer. And witnessing two legendary Batman actors in one movie would definitely make it a blast. Also joining the cast is Sasha Calle who is going to make her debut as Supergirl in the DCEU. Unfortunately, Billy Crudup had to drop out of the movie because of his busy schedule involving Apple+’s The Morning Show. It is totally heartbreaking as Crudup is an amazing actor, the bond between Henry and Barry which was expressed in Snyder’s Justice League was enough to make the audience cry, and to see him leaving during laying the origins of the hero is very sad.
On the other hand, Spanish actress Maribel Verdú was just announced to be cast as Barry’s mom, Nora Allen, who was murdered during his childhood. Her role is definitely going to be important as Nora Allen’s death totally changed the life of the hero, who had to grow up without any parent as his father was jailed for murdering his wife, a crime he didn’t commit. The Flashpoint story arc involves Barry going into the past to save his dead mother which ultimately ends up messing up everything. While the fans would have to deal with the disappointment of Crudup leaving, they have a lot to look up to with all the amazing cast joining the movie.
