HBO Max has confirmed that The Flight Attendant will be back for season 2. Scroll down to know!
The Flight Attendant has been HBO Max‘s most-watched series in the last year. Ever since its release in November 2020, this spy comedy has been nominated for two golden globes in the Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Actress, TV Series – Comedy or Musical categories and the fans have been anticipating a second season. Here is everything we know about The Flight Attendant Season 2.
The Flight Attendant Release Date
Based on Chris Bohjalian’s 2018 novel of the same name, the Flight Attendant’s first season received praises from both the critics and the audience. Although no specific release date has been announced, Jason Kilar, the WarnerMediaCeo claimed that Flight Attendant season 2 will most likely premiere in spring, 2022. With the writer’s room only recently gathering up and the pandemic slowing the pace of production, we cannot expect Flight Attendant Season 2 to come out this year itself.
The Flight Attendant Season 2 Cast and Crew
Kaley Cuoco will obviously be returning as Cassie, the protagonist. Apart from her, there is Zosia Mamet, playing the character of Annie, Cassie’s lawyer’s best friend. We will also be seeing Cassie’s fellow flight attendant/informant Megan( played by Rosie Perez), her brother Davey (played by T R knight), colleague/government operative Shane ( played by Griffin Matthews), and assassin Miranda (played by Michelle Gomez) and a few others. Felix was also alive by the end of Flight Attendant Season 1, thus we can expect Colin Woodell to return.
It is too early to make any speculations regarding new additions to the crew, but we are expecting some new, exciting names to be announced soon.
What happened so far in season 1: (warning: spoilers ahead)
The first season of Flight Attendant focuses on Cassie (a flight attendant suffering from alcoholism) whose life gets intertwined in a mess as she tries to find the truth behind Alex Sokolov’s murder. In due course of time, she manages to do just that. We found out that it was one of Cassie’s flings, Buckley (who was an assassin named Felix, working on the orders of the victor, Miranda’s boss) who was the cause behind Alex’s death.
Buckley almost becomes successful in killing Cassie in Rome but her colleague Shane(working for the CIA) comes to her rescue and saves her. This along with a few sub plots marks the end of season 1. We are excited to see what Flight Attendant Season 2 has to offer.
What The Flight Attendant Season 2 can have in store
“An exciting and probably a little crazy” second season has been promised to the fans by Cuoco. Showrunner Steve Yockey has told The New York times that Cassie will be seen on a new adventure. It will almost be like “A new Hitchcock movie for Cassie to stumble into.”
There have also been speculations that Cassie might be sober in the new season. This means that there will be no more excuses for her decisions and actions. Yockey further explained, “The drinking was a symptom of the emotional trauma, and all the other stuff was a by-product of the drinking, so we’ll see when she gets sober. It doesn’t mean that the rest of the erratic behaviour calms down.”
It will be interesting to see someone who has never lived an honest life, try to live an honest life. Some theories even claim that Cassie might join hands with Miranda or might also be used by the CIA, as a spy. “There’s always a world in which Miranda shows up, which is the kind of world I like to live in,” said Yockey.
Kaley Cuoco also confirmed that, unlike the book, Cassie is not pregnant with Alex’s baby in the second season. We will also get to dig deeper into Cassie’s mind. Yockey told TV to live that the mind palace will continue to be present in the 2nd season, except this time it would look different.
He further says, “In our finale, she has that beautiful moment where she walks through the mind palace and shuts it all down, basically, so I think that iteration of the mind palace is done. That one has to do with Alex, and she’s moved on from that, but there would be some new version of it that would have to exist in a series.” It is really important for the show, to quite literally get inside Cassie’s head, to understand the reasons behind her actions.
As far as a trailer is concerned, HBO has not dropped any teaser or trailer yet. As there is no news of the Flight Attendant crew undergoing production of season 2, we believe that the fans have to wait a bit longer. No matter how long the wait is, we hope the result is as pleasant as the first one.
