Superman In Justice League

The Future State Reveals Something Worse Than Superman’s Dark Punishment

The Future State reveals that the original Justice League’s punishment for the Hyper Clan was darker than Superman’s worst prison.

The latest edition of Future State: Justice League expressed the Superman’s punishment of sending people to the Phantom Zone is not as severe as the Hyperclan’s Damnation by the original Justice League. A group of White Martians known as the Hyper clan launched a successful surprise attack on the world’s greatest Heroes in issue one of the comic. Meanwhile stranded on an unknown planet, the league investigates the location of the place that they have been sent to.

During their investigation, the league is troubled by their lack of options within the limited time which is due to the fact that the atmosphere of this new planet is toxic, However, things take an astonishing turn when Superman and Green Lantern discover some familiar markings.

They conclude that the planet that they are stranded on is “Earth Omega”, an uninhabitable world consumed by fire and ash. The chances of survival are slim even for Earth’s Greatest Heroes. Some speculation has led people to believe that Earth-Omega could be the Elseworld introduced in the conclusion to Dark Knights: Death Metal. If there is any connection, it would seem that Future State: Justice League could tie into DC‘s upcoming relaunch Infinite Frontier. The forthcoming introduction to DC’s new era promises to set the stage for the year in comics ahead whilst also continuing from the events of December’s conclusion.

Future State: Justice League #2

In Future State: Justice League #2by Joshua Williamson, Robson Rocha, Romulo Fajardo Jr., Daniel Henriques, and Tom Napolitano, Hyper clan members mentioned the hardship and the Hell that they went through because of the Original Justice League. It is linked to the Current League’s troublesome situation. While investigating the barren surface of Earth- Omega, they discover a camp and there they find some markings on a rock. The markings turn out to be Martian.

Understanding this development Aquawoman realizes that the Justice League imposters are the Hyper clan and that they were exiled to Earth-Omega. In Action Comics #1027, Kal- El’s father describes Phantom Zone as “Hell” and the original Justice League’s punishment for their brutal attacks was far worse than even being sent to the Phantom Zone.

Revelations

The Phantom Zone is a pocket dimension discovered by Superman’s father Jor-El. It’s suspended in a realm outside of the space-time continuum and has been described as purgatory. It was used by the Kryptonians as a place to exile its worst criminals, which was to be used in the very dire situations as a substitution for Death Sentences. Superman explained how bad is while offering the villain Red Cloud the choice of “jail or hell?” as part of his plea to not make him send him to the Phantom Zone.

Red Cloud was given the deciding vote in his punishment unlike the Hyper clan, who were banished there in Future State’s History by the Justice League. Though it seemed to be very harsh and dark, considering the place was a death trap for a Martian as it was composed of their only weakness, “Fire”,  it was depicted necessary in order to match the severity of the Hyperclan’s action. Green Lantern stated that her scans reveal that anyone who tries to live on the planet would die in a matter of days, making the Hyperclan’s survival a big mystery.
